Well, thank you for your kind words. I think that I would like to answer your post in a more personal way, to indicate the real reason why you will never convince me that porn is bad.

When I was a young man, I actually viewed a great deal of (legal) gay porn. Some porn is indeed very lacking in aesthetic charm, just a matter of body parts being stuffed into other body parts. In fact, I am inclined to think that porn was better when I was younger, but that's probably because I'm an old codger. In my country, when I was young, gay porn was legal but one couldn't show an erection. Then this rule was relaxed and the magazines all switched to showing erections. I thought this was unfortunate, because somehow I thought the images were less aesthetically appealing.

But I have old (legal) porn magazines which show images of youths (over 18, though sometimes looking younger) in poses that I used to find sexually arousing, and I still find aesthetically appealing. They truly added to the quality of my life when I was in my early manhood. Many of them still seem to me to possess aesthetic value. So I feel that you are arguing to take something from me, something that I experienced as very valuable and which I still believe in some cases has aesthetic value. What is more, you are trying to say that there was something shameful about it, when I feel that it is a good thing that the beauty of a beautiful human form is preserved. If I had my way, "pornographic" pictures would be taken of all boys on their birthdays in order to preserve their beauty forever.

And I don't think that one can make a clear division between porn and 'erotic art'. Anti-porn campaigns always end up censoring art, and the Mary Whitehouses of this world have no business with art.

Now, as for the porn that seems a little crude to me - just stuffing body parts into other body parts - I am inclined to say that although it is not to my taste, perhaps it is to someone else's. Perhaps they feel about it the same way I felt towards the young male skin mags and videos of my youth.

Similarly for heterosexual porn. It doesn't have any charm for me. But if a boy enjoys a photo of some female exposing her genital region, well, maybe he feels what I felt when I saw pictures of beautiful youths when I was young; maybe these experiences mean as much to him. I am not willing to disapprove of others' pleasures simply because I do not share them.

It may be that in some better organised society, there would be less need for porn. Perhaps boysexual men could openly admire nude boys at their local lido and go off into a corner for some mutual fun. Perhaps young boys could visit brothels and so wouldn't be as interested in porn. But then porn would wither naturally. For me, repression can never be the answer to sexual need, any more than repression is the answer to boylove.

I still think you haven't provided a robust reason why I should disapprove of porn, just vague talk about "sterility" as though the imperative to reproduce must be executed with every orgasm.

I know you will not be satisfied with this reply, but it is the best I can do right now.
