Not really. I guess its really something to do with oppression or something, but really its just a word you want to throw at people you dont like.

How do you determine, for example, whether an example of "oppression" by parents or adults is adultism, and when its just normal parenting?

The way you have described it, it could literally be applied to anything.

Children are treated more like beasts than people.

Are they though? Not around me they arent.

Some adults treat children badly. This does not mean that adultism is a thing.

labelling things adultism adds no explanatory power, and adds nothing new.
