Didn't you notice that Manny left? If you didn't even notice that then it's safe to say that you haven't been following any of the discussions here and haven't read much of what Chuck shared. You aren't wrong to notice that Chuck's on the wrong website. The stuff he's doing deserves it's own website with sections dedicated to all of his varied interests. It is a shame to see someone spend so much time and effort writing in the sand here at BC where the tides regularly wash what we say down the page and out of sight. But who are we to say what's the best use of Chuck's time? Maybe he's a Kurt Vonnegut fan and creates art to become who he is destined to be.

One quick example of something valuable Chuck brought to the board has been his practice of quoting from and linking to old posts and talking about them again. He makes a great point. If we aren't ever going to talk about it again, then why even save old posts? Actually we have no choice over if old posts are retained or not. Probably they will be until one day BC goes offline with no explanation and from then on it will just be another hard to find document about the past, like old copies of the NaMbla newspaper.

If BC died tonight most likely what we will be remembered for is the trolls, crazies and rampant negativity, plus the whole surviving so long thing. But maybe it won't die tonight and maybe in five years people will say BC isn't what it used to be, but in their case they will be talking about how dead it was here before the great revival. Mannys already gone. Chuck goes through phases and physically can not keep this up long. Not counting Chuck BC has been extremely dead lately, except for the one the King of ZeMbla said was destined to carry BC through the lean times.

It's okay if you don't like BC's unofficial Official Guard Dog. It's not a guard dog's job to be liked. A guard dog's job is to keep the problem animals at bay so that the flock can thrive. Currently besides Chuck BC has gone fallow, which may not be interesting to watch on any certain day, but over time you may notice that we are healing. Maybe we will even run out of trolls to wrangle and the troll wrangler will come out less and less often until one day you check back and none of the people who bothered you are here any more. Hopefully no matter who is here, you try to be a little friendlier to their BC'er of the Month, whoever that happens to be.
