Children naturally respond to sustained positive attention from adults. They notice who watches them, singles them out, whose eyes light up around them, and who consistently treats them with extra warmth or interest. Once a child notices that attention, it is entirely normal for them to respond to it and begin seeking it out. So saying the child “initiated” or “drove” the relationship may be true in a narrow sense, but it does not tell you how the dynamic developed. It’s like going fishing, choosing the bait, putting it on the hook, casting it in the right place, and then claiming the fish did all the work because it bit. Yes, the fish made the final move, but that ignores everything that set up the response. The same is true here. A child may approach first or seek attention, but that does not mean the dynamic began with the child. By then, the child may already have noticed the adult’s repeated attention and responded accordingly. For that matter, why is it nearly always the hot blond boy in the neighborhood driving the relationship with the local BL rather than the ugly one? |
