You're right about the spectacular scenery, and I'm sure there are a lot of interesting things to sample, but I'm afraid I couldn't travel anyway. I have too many commitments where I am. And what about my cat? I know, I could put him in a 'cat hotel', but then I'd spend the entire trip worrying about my cat alone in his enclosure, and I'd be completely miserable the whole time. No, I could never do that to my beautiful, affectionate feline companion. In any case, don't you need a car in the US? I can't drive - never learnt - another good thing about my country is that one never needs to. But there's more than that. I just don't like the hassle of travel. Others like travel; I do not. Call it inertia. In any case, I have, over the years, created the most amazing wild garden in human history, with huge trees that tower above the house, lovely groves in which ancient gods, such as Antinous, can be discovered in hidden nooks, flowers of every delicate hue of pink and blue and white, clouds of butterflies in the summer, this morning I watched dazzlingly bright sky-blue dragonflies darting in and out of the wild plants above the pond. Everything I need is here, and so here I shall remain and watch the seasons go by. ![]() |
