In time it becomes easier to recognize and dismiss toxicity when you see it, enabling you to move smoothly through a community or message board, interacting with the people who's comments are worth reading and skipping over the noncesence. You have mentioned being younger and trying to find your way in communities dominated by elderly control freaks. Again, you aren't alone. Sadly many elderly bls (like elderly gay chickenhawks) see young men as threatening competition. Your youth gives you an advantage with chatting up boys on busses that they only wish they still had, and sadly for some of them that makes them hate you with a passion that even they themselves do not comprehend.
