I've been beating this dead horse for some years now, ((this particular horse keeps rising from the dead and thus requires periodic re-beating) but the "black hole that exists at the heart of any conservative gay model" consists of two huge blind spots

1. Boys are hot.

2. Pederasty is, from an historical and anthropological perspective, male homosexuality's dominant form. There is another one out there -- call it the gender-bending, ersatz-female, tranny-adjacent form of male homosexuality. Both are visible across eras and cultures. What is NOT visible is two adult male-identifying men of similar age and socio-economic status being celebrated/tolerated by the wider culture in the absence of tolerance/institutionalization of pederasty.

Until the conservatives can wrap themselves around these realities, there will be no progress. I called them "blind spots" -- you call them black holes which is probably a better term (matter goes in but nothing emerges). It's a mix of socially induced repression and self-censorship. ("I will NOT notice that hottie. I will NOT notice that hottie. I will NOT notice that hottie. Because, Lord God in heaven, I think he is UNDERAGED.) And of course a refusal to approach history, anthropology, and art as something other than a slag heap to be cherry-picked.

"Monogamous marriage" of a sort does exist among the same-sex inclined. But in my experience, it tends to arise out of a pederastic relationship in which the boy matures into a man without the hormone-driven desire for women rearing its head, and the man's love for the boy is so strong it overcomes the fading of the boy's physical charms. The two of them love each other so much that the love takes on a kind of divinity, transcending the usual need for the triggers of physical attraction that got them interested in each other in the first place. It does happen -- I know that for a fact (see Christopher Isherwood and Don Bachardy) and it does make the later years easier to bear -- much easier.
