I suppose you might argue that some immigrants in the UK send money home, and maybe they do. Right, what is "home" to them. It is not UK and they are not British. They are Indian or Somali or whatever living in UK with their culture, which is not British. Freddie Mercury was born outside the UK, but moved to UK and adopted the culture, even changed his name. He turned himself into a brit and got accepted as British. Immigration should mean getting assimilated, turning into one of "them". Moreover, common values define a nation. When there are no common values, then one has no nation and nobody is going to defend the no-longer-existing common values. |
