I made no such argument for purity. It's a matter of cause and effect. You can go to the most mainstream economist and they will still tell you that your policies deprive renters of the available supply of competing rental units. You don't even need to be an economist to understand supply and demand. If Abascal's rent had been allowed to float with the market instead of subject to arbitrary laws and loopholes, maybe she would have had the capacity to move somewhere more affordable before becoming old and infirm and atomized by the welfare state. "Give landlords even more economic power." You're the one driving down the number of landlords so the remaining ones don't have to compete with them. You accuse me of supporting a landlord's choices through my inaction, but you support it as a matter of policy and you don't even care. Pretending you're on a first name basis with Maricarmen Abascal doesn't make up for that. A French satirist once said that a single death is a tragedy, but a hundred thousand is a statistic. Everyone knows you're in favor of that trade-off. You just can't accept that Abascal's case is an example of the latter rather than the former. Fanatic. ![]() |
