Diana Merrifield has been actively engaged in mental health awareness and suicide prevention since 2012. As a certified Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) instructor she has taught CPR for mental health to over 500 adults and students, who have maybe gone on to prevent thousands or tens of thousands of suicides. What actually likely happened was Chris Hansen tried to get the young woman (referred to as a fellow passenger in the video) to come on the show, but the real photographer was terrified to expose her face to a national audience. "I've got just the person to act out your story," Chris Hansen probably told the young woman. "I would be happy to," was Diana Merrifield's likely reply when she heard the plan. She borderline admitted it in her interview, referring to her "old lady mask" she hides behind. It just makes sense that they'd use a person used to death threats. Just think of the kind of people who are ready to end it all in Charlotte, North Carolina. Crazies. Losers. Criminals. People who literally have no friends and nothing to live for due to their life choices. Those are the people she has "referred" to the men in white jackets. She probably gets a few death threats a month anyway, so she's not worried about a few more as she probably drives an armored car and lives/works in buildings with guards controlling access to parking garages. The real question is how deep does the conspiracy go? How does any one of us know that the Wheel of Fortune guy wasn't in on this? How does anyone know that it wasn't his intention to "get caught" like this from his very first day joining Lifeline as a guest? It sure looked like he was trying to get caught. If the actual photographer was exposed it's very likely that they had some sort of relationship or connection to the Wheel of Fortune guy and that is why they needed the hero Diana Merrifield to throw La Causa off the trail.
