Interesting post, thank you. I find the kind of dialogue between posters such as yourself and LA to be some of the most interesting and provocative aspects of BC -- among other things, I don't encounter it anywhere else on the web. I am tired after some health problems and RL demands and lack the energy for a detailed response. (The circumcision issue is a particularly pointed one -- I come down on your side, but with a sense of reluctance since I hesitate over any use of state coercion to intervene in long-established practices -- although if I had the power, I would prohibit forcing it on anyone -- female circumcision included -- below full passage through puberty, for the same reasons that I would prohibit any medical intervention before full passage through puberty to effect what the trans activists like to call "transitioning." I wrote a long essay more than a decade ago that touches on many of the same issues you do in your post (including the light that Marxian thought can shed on present circumstances). You might, in place of the response your post deserves, find both it and the following thread (note kit's response in particular) interesting -- no obligation, of course. It is Yank-centric and in parts dated since I did not anticipate either the partial take-over of the central institutions of American political and economic power by a mix of a peculiarly noxious and vulgar brand of right populism with a techno-oligarchical hubris as a reaction to the ascendancy of a quasi-totalitarian "wokism" which I did predict in the essay, (although I didn't call it that.)
