I think it’s pretty obvious to anyone who has spent a great deal of time with children that they learn best through physical exposure, play, and active engagement, so I credit his ideas greatly for providing a pretty sound framework for people like me who are invested in the development of children in the modern age. There’s plenty to disagree with and dispute. I think he still underestimated the emotional capabilities of children as much as most people do. But he also proves to be a pretty valuable figure to cite in disputes regarding how to best guide a child.
