The story I assume you are alluding to was reported by the BBC. Here are a couple of links to BBC reports on the incident, one in January, and a later one in May. Demanding "payback" sounds to me like an incitement to violence and to breaking the law, but before beracine throws himself into action, as opposed to endlessly inciting others on BC, it might be a good idea to first get one's facts straight. As always, it would have taken mere seconds to find out the truth about this (old) story. It wasn't a "protest", it was the First Light Festival, a multi-arts festival held on Lowestoft’s South Beach in Suffolk, on England’s east coast. I have been unable to find any suggestion of a political element to the incident. Secondly, with regard to the boy, the incident didn't lead to a fence "ripping part of his cheek off". It caused injury to the underside of his chin, which was impaled when he was pressed against a spiked metal fence whilst being restrained. Thirdly, I fail to see either the significance of the gender of the police officer or the ethnicity of the 15 year old boy who was the victim of the officer's actions. Of course, as a left-winger, I basically think that all police are bastards anyway, the kind of people who, when they were at school, would nick the pocket money from the smaller kids in the school playground. But there is no suggestion in this story that the policewoman's actions were motivated by her victim being white. Police statistics show that black people experience police use of force at around 3 times the rate of white people. Whilst the police initially defended the officer, an enquiry by the UK's Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said the officer's actions were "not reasonable and proportionate" and that the force should reinvestigate its response. As of today, that investigation is ongoing. ![]() |
