When you get on twitter and seek out pedo-hysteria content, that's what you'll find, but checking twitter/reddit filth really is not a good way to ascertain how the broader public feels about anything. There are always necessarily going to be differences of opinion between people who spend a lot of time sitting down, on their phones, participating in echo chambers, verses your average person out in society who talks mainly to friends and family about local issues. The truth is that hysteria is relatively rare between community members who know each other.

Wherever you are in the world, there are people nearby who would love and support you if they got to know the real you. This doesn't mean they would accept someone self identifying as a "pedophile," (with all the dark undertones that label brings with it) but every community in the world has individuals known for loving kids, being good with kids, being a kid magnet, etc. Many communities have programs and support groups to support individuals who experience sexual attraction to children often categorizing themselves as "recovery" programs or "men's integrity" programs, because they lump in all kinds of sexual issues from being "addicted" to whores and pornography to "emotional cheating" on their spouse and other issues where the members learn to trust and be vulnerable with each other as they heal their connections to their family and community.

Most of the habituates of this message board don't feel that they need to recover from anything. Like the way you posed this question as if it was the world that needs to catch up to you rather than you needing to find your place in the world. They will never get better and the more time you spend among the sick, breathing their air, the more of their sickness you will likely absorb. Same thing goes for doom scrolling hate messages on social media. Hysterical people think that the world is a monolith, but in fact it is not. There are pockets of loving and accepting people just waiting to get to know you, in every community. You just have to have faith in your neighbors and be a friend to get a friend.

The future is already here — it's just not very evenly distributed.
