The unfortunate reality is that Chuck's behavior speaks for itself, and it isn't flattering. The pattern of reviving months-old conversations, inserting himself into long-dead discussions, and acting as though everyone is eagerly awaiting his latest revelation comes across as remarkably self-important. When someone responds on August 2 to a post that was made on May 19, it raises an obvious question: who exactly is that reply for? It's certainly not part of an active conversation.

That kind of behavior projects an inflated sense of personal significance. It gives the impression that Chuck assumes everyone is still following these discussions, checking back for his responses, or hanging on his every word. Most people understand that conversations have a natural lifespan. Chuck apparently believes they remain perpetually active simply because he has decided to rejoin them.

This isn't an isolated incident, either. He does it repeatedly, which makes it seem less like an accident and more like a habit. It's also not as though he lacks the ability to understand what he's doing. He has to deliberately dig up these old threads, locate the posts, and then reply as if the original participants are patiently waiting for his contribution months (or sometimes years) later. That reflects a remarkably self-centered view of how online discussions work, where his own desire to respond outweighs the obvious reality that most people have long since moved on.

That persistent assumption that his contributions remain central to everyone else's attention comes across as deeply narcissistic in the everyday sense of the word. Not as a clinical diagnosis, but as a pattern of exaggerated self-importance. The world doesn't revolve around his commentary, yet he repeatedly behaves as though it does. Combined with his tendency to perceive significance where none exists, it creates an impression of someone who has lost perspective on how other people actually engage with these forums.

I completely agree with your question, and I don't expect Chuck will ever answer it directly. Doing so would require engaging with the substance of the point instead of retreating into his usual distractions and increasingly bizarre artistic tangents. That's been his pattern for as long as anyone can remember.

The cycle is predictable. He'll eventually disappear for months or years, only to return with the same erratic behavior, reviving ancient discussions as though no time has passed. Then he'll start pinging people who haven't logged in for decades (or who may no longer even be alive) as if they're still following along. At that point, it stops being merely odd and becomes genuinely surreal.
