"Is it an eroticization of care for children?"

No. Diapers are gross.

"A sexuality based on emotional congruence with them?"

No. Emotionally mature pedophiles are a real thing.

"There are studies that show that individuals with pedophilia have strong emotional congruence with children."

I would submit that emotionally stunted individuals may be overrepresented among your available test subjects.

There is no test for pedophilia other than simply measuring arousal. No personality test, no neurological test, no psychiatric test. Like more accepted forms of sexuality, pedophilia has physical/sexual and romantic/companionship components. It is not a fetish or fixation. Some individual pedophiles may characterize their attraction in certain ways, but they are not generalizable. Some pedophiles may place emphasis on a desire to mentor a boy, but that's just a form of companionship and not comparable to a diaper fetish. Some pedophiles may enjoy rough and tumble play with boys, but that's just a form of physical interaction and cannot be reduced to BDSM. Some pedophiles may describe themselves as having an inner child that seeks expression, but that's just a desire for connection with their preferential sex partner. Pedophiles come in all shapes and sizes and come from all kinds of backgrounds. The more you try to fit them into one tiny box, the more you will overlook.
