one cannot claim that capitalism is working, meaning that the price is determined by supply/demand - and at the same time claim that there is a wage gap for equal work.

I worked with women who made more money than me - among others a very talented tech lead. And i have worked with women who only can do basic work and are not good even at that. And i know several tough women, physical tough women - and i have no desire to enter a competition against them.

Many women desire a safe work place, where getting fired is nearly impossible. And i remember an oil crisis where in and around one town about 60 thousand men lost their job. Men do take jobs that have an uncertain future, and they should be paid a premium.

Very few women will do the work like that Shuji Nakamura, the inventor of the blue LED, yet it was a woman who got a second Nobel price as the first person.
