At about the 6 minute mark: "When it was happening, I didn't realize it was a "thing" that was happening. I just thought it was a form of expression--a form of love--that my step-grandad was giving me, that no other family members were giving me."

It's sad the ordeal forced onto him in order to reframe it in his mind from love to abuse. For a year-and-a-half, the truth for him was that it was just a form of love which he welcomed. It seems it would have been much better for him over the course of his life, to just hold onto his truth as the real truth. And that the shame that was forced onto him, is the falsehood.
