I think this is exactly what has happened for several 10,000 if not hundred thousands of years. Work specialization happened among the males and often required a lot of teaching. Puberty happens a bit later in boys than in girls, and men are dying younger - which are typical signs that there is/was more selective pressure on males. The notion that only the cutest girls get laid is just a myth. Boys are beautiful and woman with makeup and waxing are trying to imitate boys. In big apes, females with a track record of multiple births are the desired ones (jikes). And then there is the question, what happens to the baculum - the answer is simple: pedophiles are sometimes a pain in the ass. It only makes sense if the selection also went the other way, boys selecting the most tender mentors. Currently, we see a decline of the neoteny tendencies: the age of puberty declines. The common explanation is that we have better food - but i do not believe that. With the advent of schools, private mentors are no longer needed. And cute boys no longer get enough beneficial attention. Before schools, cute boys were mentored, became excellent craftsmen and climbed socially. Remember that infant mortality was much higher and having enough care personal made a difference. Yes, i am pretty sure that what you wrote did indeed happen. ![]() |
