... and that's got the chattering class and its film critics up in arms. With a critic score on Rotten Tomatoes of only 39%, the new biopic of Michael Jackson also boasts an audience score of 97% and that has the critics fuming about the masses loving the things they're not supposed to love, especially if it has to do with someone accused of child molestation. But perhaps the editorial in the Guardian has a point in comparing the cult-like adoration of Jackson to Trump (though it's meant as an insult). Michael Jackson accrued a great deal of emotional investment from fans worldwide which they still harbor now decades later. One can debate how rational that is, but it's also very human too for people to be able to see the humanity cut through all the pedohysteria even if relies on the star power of one of the biggest celebrities in history. Perhaps it also helps that Jaafar Jackson, who plays his uncle Michael in the movie, is very charming in his own right. Or maybe I'm wrong and people would rather see a movie about a crazed pedophile going on a revenge torture/murder spree. But I doubt it. ![]() |
