For me, the remembrance is for the real-life story of how Alan Turing was treated after WW2.. that's what I think of when people talk about how the soldiers fought for our rights. The genius who almost single-handedly turned the tide of war against the bad guys.. treated like shit for something that today would be viewed as being very tepid stuff - general boy-liking or an enduring peer-aged love, we still don't know for sure. It was the people who rejected the past ways who paved the new way for a way of life where a man like that would have been able to live more peacefully. As for the Aussie headlines you saw.. I saw them too but glossed over them.. none of it is surprising really. ![]() |
