Well, that is an apparent contradiction, and there are two ways of resolving it: either restrict AI still further (though I introduced AI into politics precisely in order to deal with a problem with human nature), or resign oneself to a benign (one hopes) rule by superintelligences. I suppose the latter is ultimately more plausible, though I was thinking that ASI would not rule in the sense of exercising naked power, but rather guide human communities by influencing collective opinion. In this way, we could retain the sense that our political decisions were in some sense our own, whilst avoiding the worst outcomes of human decision making for our species. Such a state of affairs would constitute a transition of the human species to a post-historical state in which serious deadly conflict between large human groups would be effectively impossible. In this way, the human race might survive for millennia without degrading its planetary home. It is all, of course, massively speculative, but there's no harm in speculation. I don't know what part of my OP you think contradicted human nature. ![]() |
