That would be The Priory School (aired 1986).

One of my favourite episode of the series is The Sign of Four (1987). It features a nice scene with Holmes' Irregulars. The boy playing Wiggins is Courtney Roper-Knight, who, a year prior to his appearance in this episode, had played the central character, Barnacle, in the magnificent BBC TV series The December Rose, written by the great Leon Garfield.

Brett's perfection can be seen in the scene with the Irregulars in which Wiggins says that it cost him "three bob and a tanner" (3 shillings and sixpence) for the tickets. Brett gives him a slightly sceptical look before reimbursing him. Three shillings and sixpence for a dozen boys is 3 1/2 pence per boy. Though not impossible, it is somewhat on the upper bound of probability; they must have all come from quite a distance if this is accurate; bus fares started at 1d, and the average fare on the underground at this time was 2d. In other words, that slight gesture of scepticism is justified.
