My response was directed at your claim that this bullying behavior was actually courting. You have made similar claims before in more serious discussions, so you cannot simply dismiss it now as a joke. This claim intrigues me, I certainly won't ignore it. I cannot recall claiming bullying behaviour to be courting, so you'll have to give some detail. Maybe I said bullying behaviour is a phobically repressed response to attraction to boys? Something like that? I LOATHE bullying of boys, and if I've said something that suggests otherwise, I'd really like to know. At this stage, I don't believe you. I thought my line was obvious: As a depiction of bullying, it was pathetic. The bullies who ruled my schoolyard were psychopaths, and I doubt today they're as lily-livered as the fictional representation here. Again, for some reason, you find it impossible to engage in any level of intellectual argument. You don't know the personal situation that lies behind my desire to write and make arguments, yet you are obsessed with thinking you do. It leads you to make utterly irrelevant digressions. I have met hundreds of our kind and by a huge margin most are good people who, if they have any YFs at all, treat them well. But more than just a tiny number are unable to behave properly and end up doing things like touching up boys while they sleep or worse. Nothing I've ever said is at odds with this, and I'd happily concur with what you say. Good God, man, I constantly argue man's Darwinian nature, man is a beast to man, etc. Defending GLTTA, I point out that it includes the unsavoury stuff, the occasional pockets of cruelty and violence. BUT that violence -- it's level and nature -- is in no way unusual for human behaviour; it is to be found in all sexual behaviour and all spheres of human interaction. I do think there's a case to be made, historically, that there is less violence involved in boy-love than hetero relations, stemming from a biological difference. Another very important point: Judging the character of pederasts only on what we observe today would be like judging Jewish character based solely on what was observed in Auschwitz. A rather warped caricature. The unseemly behaviour you describe cannot be excused due to our environment, but it sure as hell provides important context when discussing it...intellectually, without the myopic obsession with one's own hurts. |
