A far more astonishing Now and Then is River Phoenix six months after finishing Stand By Me appearing in The Mosquito Coast - the way these boys grow up! His camera chemistry was a constant, but he'd obviously decided it was time to become a star and had hit the gym and turned up a very buff 15yo. Like a phoenix from his own adolescent torpor...

Has anyone ever counted up the number of Stephen King stories which feature adolescent boys? Interesting that the author who most directly tapped the popular imagination, expressed its darkest fears and anxieties, constantly filled his works with imperiled boys.
