Try 'Thai BL' or 'Thai Boys Love'

We have used the term "Boy Love" or "BL" since this board was founded in 1995 but when Japanese women invented the media genre in the 1970s, they reached for a literal translation of the Japanese for Boy Love (shonen ai) and then proceeded to anglisize it by calling it Boys Love.

I opt for the Romanized Japanese pronunciation, Boyz Laabu, to make it even more distinct from what we're about here (not that there isn't a bit of overlap.)

The Thais generally call it "BL" which, again, opens up the potential for confusion, particularly here. You'll recall the post I linked a few days ago during which I pontificated on the origins and potential significance of what the Thais have done with the genre.
