My boy and I saw it this past weekend and we absolutely loved it. I can’t possibly understand how any boy lover could dislike a movie that puts such an incredible (and incredibly cute) boy front and center for almost an entire movie, let alone one that isn’t afraid to be so focused on much of the boy’s emotional and physical growth. It can’t just be because he doesn’t show any skin, because that’s just flat out stupid. I obviously wouldn’t have complained, but it’s not like I was spending the whole movie on the edge of my seat hoping that the hero would get enough infected blood on him to have to change his clothes either. Mainstream movies are so afraid to let kids carry the story these days. I’m hoping that this will inspire movie audiences to make these kinds of films again. This was definitely my sort of movie and I’ll happily rewatch it before the 2nd entry in the trilogy comes out in January. |
