What do you think rights are, or should be? I dont really know. Its never clear what it actually means. I dont believe in positive rights, because they obligate me (or someone) to provide the right Eg, the right to food is a positive right. If someone doesnt have food, and food is a right, then if I dont give him food I am denying him his rights. If thats not the case, then the right to food is meaningless. but, outside of those sort of rights, it seems like everyone and their grandmother is just making something up, or picking something they would kind of like, and calling it a right. Also, it wasnt the right to enjoy sexual pleasure , it was the right to enjoy sensual pleasure ( which includes sex) If enjoying sensual pleasure is a right, then almost anything else can be a right. They dont explain WHY its a right, they just say, its a right. eating cake is a sensual pleasure. If a child has a right to sensual pleasure, and his parent doesnt let him eat cake, they are denying him his right to sensual pleasure. It all gets silly quite quickly. |
