Honey started off the month of September with warnings of ai imposed doom and gloom and then just like last month our resident sherlock BoysAreGuns complained that BCers are crazy and BC is not a cozy supportive website, but no one else joined his pity party this time. Most of the bl12 refugees have by now settled in to new communities on the dark web, so he got roasted by the grizzled BC regulars, except for Beracine who reminded us that our job isn't to be comfy and cozy. He says now is the time to prepare for societal breakdown. But besides one intentionally inflammatory tirade against circumcision by GL_in_Lyrics, the vast majority of BC posts in September were relatively positive. Besides the one huge pain in the ass troll that we've obviously still got (who has largely neutralized by training him to dance like a trained monkey), for the most part disruptive control freak nutcases have vacated the premises to the point that September was one of the least trolled months on BC since statistics started being kept. As the long hot days of September dragged on BC didn't see nearly as much traffic as it has in previous years, but this year the posts were of a significantly higher quality. Even coonigan's odd tangents sounded inspirational. When Toxoplasmosis started moping around feeling suicidal over his attraction to little boys, he got a warm supportive response from the group who gathered round, urging him to challenge his thinking and adopt more a realistic way of looking at life. Maybe not the cozy coddling of bl12, but BCers are supportive in our own way. Grenfield started a fun conversation about the remake of the video game Zelda, Ocarina of Time and catbird kicked off a similarly enjoyable discussion about which type of boy singers BCers prefer. The rest of the month would have been almost totally quiet if it hadn't of been for BC's current star poster who really filled in the gaps with entertaining and thought provoking posts all month long. Chuck talked about how social media shapes reality in a post with a link to the "Most Dangerous Documentary About Reality Ever Made," which was apparently caused NightyNight's intellectual facilities to stretch sooo far til it snapped and he went into full troll mode. "Hark, is that a sealion?" came the cry as several BCers harpooned the flopping beast. Not that he needed our help, since Chuck has wrangled that troll before. Sharpshooter compared him to Manny, but he did preface that by confessing that he doesn't read BC very often or know who Chuck is. Welp, it's always good to hear from the disconnected and out of touch! Those of us who aren't crotchety embittered grumps actually consider ourselves lucky to be able to hear from perspectives that we aren't used to. Here's one where Chuck encourages us to watch a documentary called "soft white underbelly" featuring interviews with pimps that add context to the Boston-Boise affair. When Chuck challenges Brian Ribbon's objectification of boys, he gives us all something to ponder. Towards the end of September Coony wondered why it was so quiet around here, borderline blaming himself, but his post inspired several warm responses, proving that even during quiet periods people continue to check in to see if anyone interesting said anything lately. That's really the trick to enjoying BC isn't it? You check in and maybe respond to something if you want to, but there was never any need to force it with the frequent low quality posting that used to dilute the main index. It's quieter now, but somehow warmer. Less toxic. Less reactive. That's progress. ![]() |
